Mirror Mirror on the Wall...

Mirror Mirror on the Wall...

James 1:23-24 - "Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what is says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like."

Do you ever feel overwhelmed, crushed or confused? When we're in one of those moments of life that bog us down, have you ever wondered if God even sees you?

Then the next question might be if He sees me, what does He see? The times I've been unfaithful? The times I've been insensitive to others? The questions could go on and on...

Personally speaking, there have been many times I have looked in the mirror and thought of what a wretched man I can be. I have doubted myself and wondered if I am even worthy.

However, as I was reading James 1:22-25 one day, my perspective changed. It says if we do not do what we hear from the Word, we are like the one who looks in a mirror and forgets what he looks like. What?! Is that saying I can't pick myself out of a line up? I was perplexed. Then it hit me one day as I was looking in the mirror - I am a child of God, and I cannot allow myself to forget that! That is who I should see when I look into a mirror. That is who God sees when He looks at me. I am deeply loved by God my Creator and so are you.

If you are reading this and you aren't following God, I ask you to consider accepting Jesus as your Savior - to be adopted into God's family and become His child. If you have questions about that, please reach out to us. We're here at Bread of Life Book Community for that very purpose - to share God's love.

And, if you are following God, remember and embrace the fact that you have a loving and gracious Father who sees you. Even in the chaos of life, each one of us is fully seen and fully loved.
